How it works

Ten minutes in. A defensible answer out.

Reclassify is a calculation tool with an explanation layer — not a chatbot with opinions. Here's exactly what happens to your information.

1

Tell us your situation

Add your loans by hand, or import your MyStudentData.txt file from StudentAid.gov and we'll read every federal loan at once — balances, rates, servicers, statuses. Then your income, family size, career, and what matters most to you: lowest payment, lowest lifetime cost, fastest payoff, or maximum forgiveness.

2

The engine simulates every option you qualify for

A deterministic calculation engine checks your eligibility for each current federal plan — Tiered Standard, IBR, RAP — plus accelerated payoff, then simulates each one month by month: payment, interest, principal, forgiveness. If you work in public service, it overlays PSLF. No AI does any math. Every plan rule is versioned and cited to an official source.

3

You get a ranked answer with receipts

Strategies are scored against your stated goals and ranked. You see the winner, the runner-up, and the honest trade-off between them — starting payment, time to done, total paid, amount forgiven. AI writes the plain-English explanation using only the engine's numbers.

4

Turn it into action

Your Action Plan converts the winning strategy into concrete steps — what to file, where, in what order — with links that go only to official StudentAid.gov pages. Check them off as you go. When your life changes, update your profile and the analysis re-runs.
